Lake Weissensee in Carinthia
Lake Weissensee in Carinthia with its crystal-clear waters is known as one of the best swimming lakes. The lake is 11.6 kilometres long and up to 900 metres wide and its deepest point is 99 metres. The following villages border the shores of the lake: Neusach, Techendorf, Gatschach, Naggl and Stockenboi. Only a third of the 23 kilometres of the lake’s shore is developed, the rest is under conservation and landscape protection.

Crystal clear swimming lake
The lake is known as good fishing water because of its good water quality. With a visibility of up to 6 metres, waters of drinking water quality and temperatures of up to 26°C, is the lake ideal for swimming.
To maintain the quality of the water, only liner shipping, the police and surface water rescue as well as agricultural and forestry vehicles are permitted to use combustion engines on the lake.
Lake Weissensee has been famous for its brown trout since medieval times. Making the lake a more attractive fishing water, other types of fish like perch, carp or pike have been introduced to the lake’s waters in recent years.
